Artists Environmental Action Statement
Futurescapes .... environmental action:
I am a sculptor; I make "Futurescape" sculptures that depict the future of the earth as I see it. And the future is bleak.
The sculptures are painted red & black ... red symbolizing heat, black symbolizing death. Each sculpture includes at least one piece of coal. The coal represents the cause of the calamity.
But it doesn't have to be that way. WE can make a difference, we can slow the destruction, perhaps minimize the destruction ... if we take action.
We can:
drive less
take mass transit
switch to electric vehicles
turn the thermostat down (winter) and up (summer)
plant trees .... don't have a place to plant a tree, for a donation, the Autobahn Society will plant them for you
go solar ... have panels installed at your home and/or business
can't do that ... support an organization that does create solar energy; also, support solar development projects in your community ... tell the mayor you want solar panels on City Hall !!
support government projects that create solar energy and/or reduce carbon emissions
vote in politicians who WILL support aggressive climate change mitigation policies.
support 350.org (Bill McKibbens environmental action organization) or an organization like it.
If we ALL contribute, we can prevent the worse from happening.
