SOLD ... Grand Prix sculpture
I love thinking about how we might be "transported" from here to there in imaginary vehicles with a steampunk flare. Then I make them!
This is a beautiful, one of a kind sculpture. It is exceptionally detailed with multiple movable parts. The wheels turn, the steering wheel turns and the hand brake moves back & forth. The design is based on the classic race cars of the late 1920's and the early 1930's when brave grand prixers raced at "break neck" speeds in open cars with NO seat belts! I made it by fashioning and assembling approximately 3 dozen individual pieces of metal. Putting them together required more than 30 soldering and welding operations.
This sculpture is made of pewter, brass and nickel silver. It is mounted on a Vermont granite and Vermont black cherry wood base. It is 2 ¼ inches high x 3 ¼ inches long x 2 inches wide.
It will make a wonderful addition to the miniature art collection of a discerning collector.
